Breathwork
Breathwork for nervous system calm a softer way to reset
About breathwork
Breathwork is a guided practice that uses intentional breathing patterns to calm the nervous system, soften stress, and bring you back into your body. It’s a quiet, grounding pause from the constant “doing” — a space to reset, release what you’re carrying, and reconnect with how you actually feel.
At A Quiet Return, breathwork is held in a gentle, supportive way. Sessions can be deeply relaxing, emotionally clearing, energising, or all three — depending on what you need that day. No experience needed, just a willingness to arrive exactly as you are.
The benefits of breathwork
Breathwork can help:
Improve sleep and helps quiet a busy mind
Release tension held in the body (jaw, shoulders, chest, belly)
Support emotional release (letting go of overwhelm, tears, pressure, “stuckness”)
Build resilience — you feel steadier, calmer, more grounded day to day
Boost energy + clarity without caffeine or pushing
Improve focus and supports healthier boundaries
Create a sense of connection — to yourself, your body, and your inner calm
Who’s it for?
Breathwork is for you if you’re:
Feeling stressed, burnt out, overwhelmed or constantly “on”
Living with anxiety, overthinking, or a nervous system that won’t switch off
Struggling with sleep, rest, or feeling truly relaxed
Carrying emotional heaviness, grief, pressure, or change
Feeling disconnected from your body or stuck in your head
Wanting a practice that supports healing, self-trust, and calm confidence
Craving a gentle reset that doesn’t involve performing or getting it “right”
You don’t need to be flexible, spiritual, or experienced. If you can breathe, you can do this.

-
Breathwork is a guided way of using your breathing to support your nervous system, emotions, and overall wellbeing. Some styles are calming and regulating, others are more cathartic and transformational.
-
CCB (Conscious Connected Breathwork) is a continuous, connected breath with no pause between inhale and exhale. It can help shift stuck stress, access deeper feeling, and bring you into a calmer, clearer state.
-
You may feel warmth, tingling, lightness, emotion moving, or deep relaxation. Some sessions are powerful, others are subtle — both are normal. Your body leads, and you stay in choice.
-
Not always. Certain medical or mental health conditions mean CCB may need adapting or isn’t suitable. We’ll always screen properly, and I can offer gentler breath practices if that’s the safest fit.
-
Come hydrated, avoid a heavy meal for 2–3 hours beforehand, wear comfortable layers, and arrive with an open mind. If you’re unwell, sleep-deprived, or feel very raw, we may choose a softer session.
-
Most people feel calmer, lighter, or more grounded — sometimes tired or emotional too. I’ll guide you into a gentle landing, and it helps to plan a quiet hour after: water, food, and minimal rushing.
-
If any of these contraindications apply, CCB breathwork isn’t appropriate right now — we’ll always choose the gentlest, safest route for you and other breathwork options are still available.
