My story

I’m Louise, the founder of A Quiet Return. My work brings together over twenty years of experience as a therapist and a deeply personal understanding of what it means to lose your way—and slowly find your way back.

Through facials, Breathwork and Yin Yoga, my intention is to offer thoughtful, gentle care and space to reconnect with yourself.

Where it began

In my twenties, I worked as a massage and facial therapist with Molton Brown in the Concorde Lounge at Heathrow, before joining Space NK Spa in Notting Hill. Working with people from all walks of life shaped my appreciation for individual care and the simple comfort of being looked after. I later established my own on-site massage company with support from The Prince’s Trust.

Outside work, Hatha yoga, Tai Chi and books such as The Tao of Pooh and The Art of Happiness fed my interest in a more mindful, connected way of living.

But there were years when I lost touch with that part of myself.

Learning to slow down

My dad died of cancer in 2013, and I lost my mum to cancer in 2022. Grieving for them both was immense. Alongside perimenopause, I found myself losing confidence in who I was and what I believed.

Days after Mum’s funeral, I was admitted to hospital with a suspected twisted ovary, in so much pain that I couldn’t stand. On a ward on the ninth floor of Sussex County Hospital, I looked out of the window and burst into tears. Mum knew how much I hated hospitals.

Then a white feather drifted past the window. To me, it was a sign that she was with me. It brought comfort at a moment when I needed it most.

Finding my feet again took time. I was working at a local spa, but felt increasingly disconnected from myself and my work. Eventually, I woke one morning unable to move my neck. For seven weeks, the pain affected even the simplest things, and I needed my husband’s help to get in and out of bed.

I sought support through physiotherapy and explored a range of complementary practices. With pain also affecting my feet, hips, knees and shoulders, I had to pause. Looking back, that pause gave me room to acknowledge feelings I had been carrying for years.

When my time at the spa came to an end, I felt relief. It created space for a change I hadn’t felt able to make.

Finding my breath

Despite the love of my husband and daughters, I felt numb and lost inside. I longed for nature, green leaves and the sea—a little space to find myself again.

That longing took me to a retreat in Sri Lanka, where I experienced Breathwork.

What I felt was difficult to put into words, but deeply meaningful. It awakened a curiosity and connection with my body that I wanted to understand—and eventually share. I went on to train with Grounded Life, with Hannah Goodman.

Through Breathwork, I also found my way back to yoga.

After years of cardio and heavy weights, I was ready to explore a slower way of moving. Yin offered stillness, reflection and time to notice what was happening within me. Its unhurried nature felt like a natural companion to Breathwork.

Bringing that experience into my teaching

I am now a newly qualified Yin Yoga teacher with 300 hours of training. In 2026, I completed the UK’s first 200-hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training course with Norman Blair and Jill Patterson in London. I also completed a 100-hour residential course with Shanti Atma in Yin Yoga, Functional Anatomy, Chinese Medicine and Teaching Methodology.

These experiences sit alongside my years as a massage and facial therapist, shaping the care I bring to every session at A Quiet Return.

I know how easy it can be to keep going while feeling far from yourself. My intention is to offer a welcoming space where you can pause, feel cared for and explore what a gentler pace might mean for you.

Whether you come for a facial, Breathwork or Yin Yoga, you are welcome as you are.

If this feels like something you need, I would love to welcome you.
